The New Inn Restaurant and Bar, Coldingham

The New Inn Coldingham

New Inn

The villagers in this close-knit community are quite rightly very proud of their local pub and justifiably so, as my experience verified, in the New Inn, Coldingham.

A quaint, stone-built establishment which sits in the middle of the small Berwickshire village, most prominently known to divers, beach dwellers and lovers of the East Coast, promises, from the outside, little more than a friendly welcome and a large variety of guest ales!

How deceptive! Although small and local, there is a buzz within the Inn’s interior and a welcome to any guest crossing the threshold which opens up to a cosy little bar room and a real fire! There is a genuine feeling of this being the right place to be for conversation, food and a drink from the extremely well catered bar.

Although March and additionally, a Tuesday night, the menu was extensive, featuring locally caught seafood and a range of imaginative and considered dishes, presented supremely and served with a friendly banter.

The food to me, offered a slight contradiction, being not merely “pub grub”, although a wonderful revelation and another addition to my “must visit again” list.
