The Black Bull, Etal

The Black Bull, EtalLooking for a typical country pub with Sunday lunch in mind, we stumbled across the Black Bull, a thatched white cottage, akin to story book pictures, sitting in the completely unspoilt Northumberland village of Etal – not exactly Scotland but not far over the Border either!

The quaint little road is lined with similar type properties; a garden nursery, a post office with coffee shop and of course the village green – a hive of Sunday afternoon activity.

We decided on a table out front to take advantage of the uncustomary Spring sunshine where the atmosphere was jovial and extremely welcoming- the perfect setting for al fresco Sunday dining.

An expansive menu made decisions tricky and every turn of the page veered minds to another tantalising and prepared to order, entry.

The relaxed wait was far from lengthy – not that we would have objected – the surroundings were made for laid back Sunday lunches and the meals did not disappoint either, even given the sizeable menu and expansive choice.

Completely satisfied, not just with lunch but with a precious, relaxed Sunday, enjoyed to maximum benefit!
