Birchlea Lodge, Kippford, Dumfries and Galloway

Birchlea is a superior, well-appointed and luxurious log cabin in a picturesque setting near the seaside village of Kippford and on the edge of beautiful National Trust land.

The forest lodge is constructed from Norwegian pine trees, extending to its encompassing verandas, from which panoramic views of the surrounding countryside are impressively enviable.

Birchlea welcomes well-behaved dogs and we were delighted that beyond the exclusive landscaped site, home to 8 additional, privately owned forest lodges, lie forest, coastal and beach paths, perfect for long walks and exceptional photographic opportunities.

The interior at Birchlea is vast, with large comfortable rooms and a fully equipped kitchen, should you wish to prepare your own food as opposed to visiting one of the many recommended restaurants in the vicinity.

For the less adventurous and those seeking the utmost in relaxation, reading and wildlife spotting opportunities are exhaustive and for children Freeview TV and DVDs shall entertain long passed the sun setting over the western fringes.

Although offering many home comforts, the temptation is to explore the surrounds and visit the many coastal delights; a yacht club, golf course, chandlery, plentiful water sports and the Rough Island bird sanctuary to name but a few.

The beautiful south-western corner of Scotland offers a host of pastimes and interesting visitor attractions, however the Classic Car Hire at nearby Kippford, offered a unique and splendid way to explore the area’s winding, tree-lined routes to sandy beaches.

Returning home after a long day, the welcoming lodge made for a homely and relaxed evening with stylishly comfortable sofas, dusk views over the surrounding landscape and peace, perfect peace, falling asleep to the sounds of wildlife, to which Birchlea’s gardens is home.
