A Georgian Residence, Edinburgh

Edinburgh’s New Town has long been my favourite area within the capital; I lived here for many years and enjoyed the relaxed, traditional feel of it’s majestic streets and well-balanced geography.

Moray Place epitomises Georgian elegance in the heart of the New Town; it is extremely beautiful and the embodiment of the city, which I am proud to call my second home.

A Georgian Residence sits in the centre of the stunning terrace, at 11 Moray Place, described as one of the finest examples of Georgian Architecture in Britain.

A luxury Bed and Breakfast, the house is maintained in true Georgian style, offering a special experience with a touch of period influence. Precious family memorabilia and antiques form the backdrop for an authentic guest experience with luxurious little touches and home from home comforts.

The bedrooms are understandably large with traditional high ceilings, ornate cornice work and breathtaking views through full height windows, dressed with fabulously sumptuous, decorative drapes.

A Georgian Residence houses three cupolas, a stunning piece of architecture in their own right and a beautiful feature, flooding the entire house with light and forming an extremely attractive centrepiece.

Understandably, the house carries a great deal of history, with one story being of particular note. Kate Summerscale’s Mrs Robinson’s Disgrace is the true story of a woman who lived at 11 Moray Place in the 1850’s and relates the unusual story of Victorian divorce.

A compelling read, the book is available at the house for guests who stay long enough to complete the story, although with a plethora of interesting activities, literally on the doorstep, I doubt there are many.

Private gardens, to which guests have access, museums, art galleries, beautiful walks and unique shops, all within walking distance, offer endless pleasure, without even mentioning the landmarks for which Edinburgh is so well known, such as the magnificent Castle and Holyrood Palace.

A Georgian Residence offers the perfect home in Edinburgh for travellers from near and far who appreciate the magnificence and history such a treasured house provides.
